August 2024: World No-Tobacco Day 2024 Magazine

World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a year-long global campaign for the World No Tobacco Day 2024 (WNTD 2024), and the theme is: “Protecting children from tobacco industry interference”.

World No Tobacco Day 2024 will give a platform to young people across the world, who are calling for the tobacco industry to stop targeting them with products that are harmful to their health. Young people globally are calling on governments to adopt policies that shield them from the manipulative practices of tobacco and related industries, including the relentless marketing of their dangerous products through social media and streaming platforms.

This year WNTD campaign aims to expose tobacco industry tactics to win public influence and interfere with health policies that will impact generations to come. WHO stands with young people globally, who have begged the industry to stop interfering with health policies and to stop targeting them with new harmful products, while promising a better future.

“People’s Health Foundation” (PHF) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization established since December 2012.  The People’s Health Foundation published its annual magazine for WNTD 2024 in August 2024.

It is hoped that this would raise awareness of the public and policy makers and also urge them to join WNTD awareness-raising campaigns, including through social media, to amplify messages and advice that Myanmar has to accelerate tobacco control efforts as part of their responses to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
